Frequently asked questions for Sweden

Our agency handles both claims from smaller family companies and large export claims for Swedish and non-Swedish groups, government companies and authorities, credit insurance institutions, debt collection agencies and banks. We have extensive experience within our field, cultivated contacts throughout the world and legal experts who also work nationally within Sweden.

We charge commission on recovered amount on a ‘No-Win-No-Fee’ basis. For legal cases, rates will be determined separately.

We don’t have a general minimum, we talk to our clients and try to customize our services so it will fit their needs.

We service all types of debt. Both commercial and consumer claims.

The amicable collection will be at least 8 days which is the number of days the debtor has to repay the amount amicable after receiving a collection order. We also monitor cases longer, but after 8 days it is possible to go apply for a simplified judgment.

We conduct an address search and send our first letter (Payment Order) to the debtor by regular mail. This letter encourages the debtor to settle the claim within 8 days to prevent simplified legal actions through the bailiff. We will try connect through phone as well to reach the debtor. Our legal department accepts disputed claims for court proceedings. The lawyers fee is billed separately.

The general limitation period for debts in Sweden is three years for consumer claims and simplified judgments and ten years for B2B-claims, promissory notes and court judgments.

We don’t have field agents as it is not a common service for collection companies to have in Sweden, but we are working with several other companies who’s services we use when we want to serve documents to a debtor.

To register a claim at our office we need certain information about the claim, or a copy of the original invoice. If/when further documentation is needed we will request it from our client.

We offer legal services in-house; our lawyers are experienced and they work both with out-of-court settlements and court procedure.

It is legal to add a nominal collection fee to both commercial and consumer debts.
